James Wesley Carter (Dooley), 65, departed this life on Monday, October 12, 2020, in New Orleans, LA.  He was born on May 15, 1955, to the late Jasper Carter Sr. and Gracie Mae Francois Carter.  He was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, LA where he worked as a landscaper.  Anyone that knew James can attest that he made everyone feel like a friend. His presence, his smile, and his laughter could always brighten any room. He was a kind spirit and was loved by anyone who met him.

He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Sharnet (Kelly) Stewart of Houston, TX and his son Chad (Tyesha) Carter of Beaumont, TX; his sisters, Mary Ledee of Houston, TX,  Ethel (Nelson) Williams of Lake Charles, LA, Bernadine Davy of Texas City, TX and Emma Broussard of Dallas, TX; his brothers, Earl Broussard of DeRidder, LA and Noble Broussard of El Paso, TX; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Carter, Sr. and Gracie Mae Francois Carter; three sisters, Patricia Carter, Margie Buckley Carter, and Bobby Moore and four brothers, J.J. Carter, Lee Carter, Jasper Carter, Jr. and Paul Carter.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., at King's Funeral Home, 1611 Gerstner Memorial Drive, Lake Charles, LA.
