James Charles Ray, Jr. was born on March 3, 1974 to the late James Charles Ray, Sr. and Mattie Elaine Ray in Lake Charles, La. His devotion to his family and belief in God supported him throughout his life. He accepted Christ at an early age at Reeves Temple C. M. E. Church in Lake Charles, La.
James also known as June was the second of four children. He graduated from Lake Charles Boston High School in 1993 where he was a member of the football team and the band. He worked at Lake Charles Carbon for over thirteen years after graduation.
He was united in holy matrimony to Andrea Harris Ray on November 18, 2001 at Word of Hope in Lake Charles, La. He and his wife raised twelve children. In May 2006 he relocated with his family to Houston, TX. While in Houston, TX he worked at E.D.M.C. In July 2014, he returned home and became a supervisor at Golden Nugget Casino in Lake Charles, La.
June was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, and brother. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, watching cartoons, and spending time with family. He was a "family man."
He was preceded in death by: James Ray Charles, Sr; son, Jayron Eugene Ray; grandfather, Earl Ray, Sr; grandmothers, Idabelle Ray and Sarah Johnson; and godmother, Helen Nelson.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Mattie Elaine Ray of Lake Charles, La., his wife, Andrea Harris Ray of Lake Charles, La., his sons, Dalvin Ray (Antria) of Sulphur, La., Charles Williams, Christopher Williams, Levi Whiteing, Monica Justice, and DeNisha Wyatts all of Houston, TX., his sister, Valentina Pitre (Kevin) of MontBelvieu, TX, his brother, Derrick Ray ( Crystal) of Lake Charles, La., and his sister Debbie Lemonier (Will) of Lake Charles, La., twenty grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
