James Michael Williams was born on July 31, 1962 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the union of Jurrie Mae Williams and Lawrence Edward Williams, Sr.
James was a 1980 graduate of Marion High School and was a member of the basketball team and the band where he played the trombone. He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge for a short period of time and returned to Lake Charles and became a longshoreman. He worked for the Port of Lake Charles for over thirty years. He was a member of International Longshoremen's Association (I.L.A.) Local 2047.
James was a devoted husband, father and friend. He loved the Lord and was an active and dedicated member of Warren United Methodist Church. James was an inspiration to so many who battle addiction and a testament to what a strong belief in God can do in one's life. He was a member of Agape and celebrated 31 years of sobriety.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bridgett Lewis Williams; his mother, Jurrie Mae Williams; two daughters, Latyra Williams of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Latoyia Williams of Atlanta, Georgia; one bonus daughter, Nikesha (Derrick) Rodrigue of Prairieville, Louisiana; two brothers, Gerald Williams and Lawrence Williams, Jr. both of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two sisters, Nancy Ann Pitre and Barbara Disnuke both of Lake Charles, Louisiana; four granddaughters, Lailah Williams, Lana Wilson, Addison Rodrigue and Zoe Rodrigue; two grandsons, Lathan Williams and Derrick "DJ" Rodrigue, Jr.; one ward/goddaughter, Amaiyah (Me-me) Charles and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Williams, Sr. and grandson, Laine Michael Williams.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Warren United Methodist Church, Rev. Robert E. Campbell, officiating. Services will be live-streamed on Warren United Methodist Church's Facebook page. Burial will follow in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
