Jessie Lee Gibbs, 74 years old known as" Mother Gibbs", the oldest of 18 children, was born to Lawrence and Christenia Moton on March 4, 1938 in Leonville, La. She departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on July 6, 2012. She lived in Lake Charles for 34 years. She was proceeded in death by her husband Carroll Smith Gibbs, her mother, Christenia Thomas Jackson, grandmother: Lovenia Thomas Leday; sister, Christenia (Lil Chris) Jackson; Rayfield Jackson, Jr. and Mayfield Jackson; and sons,: Herbert Batiste, Jr., and Gerald James Batiste. She leaves to cherish her memory 11 daughters: Delores Richard Benoit (Paul), Dorothy McKnight, Patricia Davis (Patrick), Diana Prudhomme (Robert), Vernall Moton, Carol Stevens (Kelly), Chris Ann Gibbs, Peggy Gibbs VanDyke and one son; Roland Gibbs all of Lake Charles, LA., Alnetta Kay Gibbs and Desirey Renee Gibbs , Andrea Faye Gibbs and her father Lawrence Moton of Houston, Tx., 9 sisters, Mursey Lee Moton, Rosa Lee Young, Burnerdean Malveaux Jackson, Merline Minor, Joyce Carrier, Marva Rae Jackson, ReEthel Arvie, Loretta Stevenson, June Ellen Jackson; one brother; Joseph Jackson(Amy); 61 grandchildren, 40 great-great children, and a host of relatives, church family and friends. She has been a faithful member of Refuge Temple Ministry for her last 29 years. During that time she served faithfully on the RTM Usher Board, Door-to-Door Ministry, Children's Church Ministry, Deliverance Choir, Counselor and Matured Women Ministry.
