John Lee Guillory , 74, departed this life on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at his residence in Lake Charles, LA. He was born on February 21, 1943, to Joe Guillory and Bella Moore Guillory in Iowa, LA.
In December, 1994, John obtained his bachelor's degree in Education Psychology, majoring in Counseling. He worked 25 years for the State of Louisiana as a Disabled Veteran Counselor/Representative/Job Placement Specialist. Before his retirement, he received many awards and commendations from the State for his service to veterans.
During his service with the United States Army, he received the Purple Heart, Combat Infirmity Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and many others. He was a member of Paralyzed Veterans of America, past member and officer, secretary and treasurer, of Vietnam Veterans of America, Post 564 and past member of American Legion.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 51 years, Rose Marie Wilson Guillory; his children, Cynthia Renee Guillory Wilson (James) of Houston, TX, Debra Guillory Washington (Landry) of Lafayette, LA, John F. Guillory (Geraldine) of Lake Charles, LA and Tammy Guillory (James Jackson) of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, Shameika, Justin, Jamesia, Jasmine, Janae, John Lee, II and Joseph; two great grandchildren, Nasya Nicole and Joseph and one great great grandchild, Max; his siblings, Willie Guillory (Elaine), Joe Ann Jacks, Mary Guillory, Maudry Miller (Melvin), all of Lake Charles, LA and Audrey Williams of Baytown, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bella Guillory; two brothers, Morris and Horace Guillory, two sisters, Jo Ella Guillory Malbrough and Florence Guillory Cephus and many other Vietnam Veterans that he formed a close bond with that preceded him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Marh 4, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. and funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at King's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
