Obituary John Nelson Rachal, Sr. July 16, 1923 - August 1, 2015 John, a WWII Veteran, departed this life while living at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings, La. Born in Natchitoches Parish, La., to Marsalee Cox Rachal and Victor Rachal, he married Evangeline Balthazar in February, 1942, to which 12 children were born. A welder by trade, he lived in Natchitoches and Winnfield before moving to Lake Charles in 1957. He returned to Natchitoches after his wife passed before moving to Jennings' Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evangeline of 46 ½ years; one daughter, Marsalee; two sons, James and John, Jr.; two brothers, Victor L. Rachal and Edward Rachal; three sisters, Thelma Johnson, Katherine Rachal and Mary L. King. He is survived by his daughters, Ida (Jude) LeCompte of Niceville, FL, Evelyn Rachal, Barbara (Lionel) Motte, of Lake Charles, La., Patricia (Charles) Sirman of Ragley, La.; his sons, George (Betty) Rachal, Sylvester (Deidre) Rachal, Joseph V. Rachal and Carl (Barbara) Rachal of Lake Charles, La., and Vernon (Nelsa) Rachal of Texarkana, TX; three sisters, Elizabeth Demery, Velma Rachal and Doris Rachal; 31 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at King's Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 and Mass at 8:00. Dismissal will be on Friday, August 7, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. in the VA Central Cemetery, 3348 University Parkway, Leesville, La., under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
