Jonas Walker was born November 12, 1946, in Lafayette, LA, to Foreman and Lizzie Sawyer Walker. He was raised in New Iberia, LA. Jonas departed this life on February 1, 2017, to be with the Lord at the age of 70.

Brother Jonas Walker served in the United States Armed Forces. He joined Refuge Temple Ministries as a very young man and was faithful in service to God to the end of his days. During his faithful services to the Lord, Brother Jonas served in many roles as an ordained minister at Refuge Temple; his last role was Brotherhood Director of the Training and Development Ministry. He kept the faith and finished his ordained course of ministry.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Theresa Pitre Walker, four sons Nolan Jackson, III (Melissa) and Michael Walker (Cheree) both of Dallas, TX; Jonathan Walker and Timothy Walker (Natasha) of Lake Charles, LA; three daughters, Rachel Lynn Jackson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Angela Walker Perron (Bryan) and Ivy Walker, both of Lake Charles, LA; two sisters, Wendy Alexander (Martin) of Houston, TX and Penny Guillory (Kenneth) of Abbeville, LA; 22 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and a church family who loved him dearly.

Jonas is preceded in death by his parents, Foreman and Lizzie Walker; three brothers, Randall Walker, Isaiah Walker, and Israel Walker and one sister, Sherrie Walker.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Refuge Temple Ministries. Burial will be in Orange Grove Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
