Joyce Marie Woodard Gaines, 63, departed this life on Monday, April 20, 2020, in Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, LA. She was born October 29, 1956, to Clarence Woodard and Mary Brown Woodard in Elizabeth, LA.  She was a cook at L'auberge Casino until her illness.  She enjoyed, cooking, reading, crossword puzzles and listening to zydeco music.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Leon Gaines; two daughters, Adria Renee Maddox and April Chantee' Gaines; her siblings, Clarence Woodard, III (Lucille), of Youngsville, LA, Donald Woodard of Rayne, LA, George Woodard of Oakdale, LA, and Judy Woodard Tillis of Princeton, TX; two grandchildren, D'Ijana Monique Maddox and Darian Wayne Maddox; one great grandchild, Aaron King Maddox, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary Woodard and one brother-in-law, Fred Tillis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2020, at 9:00 a.m., and a private family service, at 11:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home.
