Joyce May Gallien-Doucett , 80, born on October 15, 1936, in Opelousas, La., went to her eternal home on the evening of Sunday, June 11, 2017. She was the oldest daughter of nine children born to the union of Mr. Aaron and Mrs. Elizabeth (Riggs) Gallien.

On October 14, 1963, she was united in marriage to Melvin Doucett.

Joyce was preceded in death by brother, Aaron Gallien Jr.; twin infants; parents, Aaron and Elizabeth (Riggs) Gallien; sister, Nelma Henderson; and grandson, Ke'Juan Doucett.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin Doucett Sr. of Houston, Texas; and her four children, Claude Gallien (Diana) of San Antonio, Texas, Melvin Doucett Jr. of Houston Texas, Byron Keith Doucett, his fiancee' Lori of Missouri City, Texas, Paula Faye Doucett Jackson, her husband Milton of Lake Charles, La.; along with 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandkids; two brothers, Melvin Gallien Sr. (Elva) of Lake Charles, La., and Welton Gallien (Margie) of Houston, Texas; four sisters, Genevia Fontenette (Roland) of Pacoima, Calif., Mary Lee Bushnell (Elliott) of Lake Charles, La., Juanita Washington (Jeremiah) of Lancaster, Calif., and Velma Gallien of Lake Charles, La.; aunt, Odelia (Garrick) Gallien; and goddaughter, Catherine Watson; plus a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. She will be dearly missed by all.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 24, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Christian Baptist Church, 202 N. Franklin St., Lake Charles, LA 70601, with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in High Mount Cemetery on Center Street in Lake Charles, under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
