Julia M. Roy, 91, was born on March 21, 1921 in Arnaudville, Louisiana to the late Edward and Virginia Gillum. She was the eighth of ten children. She spent the greater part of her life in Lake Charles, Louisiana. After being ill for approximately two years, she was called home to eternal rest. Julia was a blessed woman who always helped others. She was a dedicated nursing assistant at St. Patrick's Hospital and LeBleu's Sitters Registry, Inc. in Lake Charles for many years. She shared her love for beauty and fashion with over 20 years in Mary Kay, Inc. Her love for the Lord was exhibited in her daily prayers, conversations, and actions. She was a devout Catholic and served as a communicant at St. Henry Catholic Church. Julia was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She had a passion for education and stressed its importance to her children and grandchildren. She was a caring, nurturing person to everyone she encountered. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, and three brothers. She leaves to cherish her memories three sons: Lanny Roy (Linda), John H. Roy (Marie) and David Chris Roy, all of Lake Charles; three daughters: M. Dell Stiner, Ruby R.Wharton (A.C.) of Memphis, Tennessee, and Priscilla Singleton (Billy) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and one brother, Frederick Gilliam of Houston, Texas. Additionally, she leaves to mourn a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
