Larry Redmond, 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 25, 1956, to the late Ray Toussaint and Rose Redmond.

Larry was honorably discharged from the United States Army, and then he dedicated 24 years to the Calcasieu Parish School Board, serving as a teacher and coach at Ray D. Molo Magnet Middle School. He taught History, Social Studies, and Special Education, and coached football, basketball, and track. More than an educator, he was a mentor and father figure to many.

Sports were his lifelong passion—whether coaching, watching games, or casting a line while fishing. He also loved to travel and shop with his wife, Shara, to whom he devoted his heart, often saying he would give her the moon and the stars. In addition, he spent many years serving the community as swimming pool manager at the City of Lake Charles Goosport Shattuck Street Park.

Larry leaves behind his devoted wife, Shara "Neicy" Redmond, and his sons: Craig (Latricia) Irvine, Leroy Irvine, Travas Irvine, Ricky Irvine, and Timothy Irvine. He is also survived by two brothers and one sister, Nolan Levier and Kermit Redmond, and Louise Thomas; fifteen grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will cherish his memory forever.

He is reunited in heaven with his parents and siblings: Roland Levier, Revina Jones, Lula Mae Hardesty, Wilda Mae Levier, Delores Redmond, Alberta Castille, Sampson Levier, Florence Bates, Margaret Lastrapes, Rose White, Edna Jean Jones, Milton Levier, Calvin Levier and one great grandchild; Myles.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at King's Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial and military honors will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery No. 2 in Lake Charles under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
