On Friday, September 11, 2026, Laurence “Al” Alcide Simien, of Lake Charles, passed away at High Hope Care Center in Sulphur, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family. He was 68 years of age. His passing is felt deeply in the community he called home.

Born in August, 1958, to Audrey and Rosa (Guillory) Simien in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Al will be remembered with respect and affection by those who knew him. His work passions can be seen in many homes he remodeled and construction projects he led. His hobbies included hanging out with friends and family, cooking, listening to music, and enjoying his favorite beverages.  

Preceding him in death are his parents Audrey and Rosa Simien, his daughter Andrea Thomas, grandsons Dwayne Brown and Jaylyn "Poopie" Citizen, and granddaughter Kelly Simien.

Al’s memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew him and shared in his life. He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughters, Allison Livings, Tameka (Rico) Edwards, Annie Simien, and Maria Thomas; his son Anthony Prudhomme, his brother Troy (Rose) Simien; fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends. 

Following his wishes, a private memorial scattering ceremony will be held at a later date. Cremation services entrusted to King's Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
