Lela Mae King Valentine, 84, was called home on December 19th, 2012 to be with the Lord. She was born on February 16th, 1928 in Washington, Louisiana to the late Lillian Thomas and Samuel King. Lela is survived by her daughter; Diane Wheeler, a special granddaughter that lived with her; Amber Wheeler, two sons; Kenneth (Charity) Valentine, Charles (Annette) Valentine; one stepdaughter; Marlene (Jerome) Hamilton, seven sisters; Pat, Floretha, Mary, Ruby, Verna, Anna Bell, and Joyce, one brother; Willie King, Sr., three sisters-in-law; Pearl King, Theresa Perkins, and Rosetta Valentine , eighteen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; Wilbert Valentine.
