Lenard "Len" Cole Memorial Service for Mr. Lenard Cole, 62, will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 12:00 noon at Progressive Church of God In Christ in Oberlin, LA. Supt. Dallas Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Kinder, LA, under the direction of King's Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be at King's Funeral Home on Friday, December 12, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and continue Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in the church in Oberlin, LA, until funeral service. Lenard "Len" Cole was the first born of six children to Mr. Elmo S. Cole and Maxine Cole. Len was born on May 25, 1952, in Kinder, LA. He was baptized at an early age by the late Bishop O. B. Pete, Sr. He was active in the Sunday School Department as well as the Youth Department. He graduated from Oberlin High School on June 2, 1970. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in July, 1970, and serviced a tour in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1974, moved to Lake Charles, LA, and worked as an operator for Citgo Petroleum Corporation for 35 years. He was married to Verda Thomas on June 21, 1975, and to this union two sons were born. On Sunday morning, December 7, 2014, at approximately 5:00 a.m., he quietly slept away at his home. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Verda Cole; two sons, Derrick L. Cole of Shelton, Washington and Jarred B. Cole of Lake Charles, LA; his loving parents, Elmo S. Cole and Maxine Cole of Oberlin, LA; three brothers, John Earl Cole (Sally) of Elton, LA, Charles Ray Cole (Kathy) and Don Edward Cole of Oberlin, LA, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
