Obituary

Leroy Joseph Rosamore, Sr., 90, departed this life on Friday, February 9, 2018, at his residence in Lake Charles, LA. He was born on June 3, 1927, to Peter and Celina Woods Rosamore in Lake Charles, LA. Leroy was a twin to the late Roy Anthony Rosamore and they were the first African American twins born at St. Patrick's Hospital. He was a part of the Civil Defense and retired from W. R. Grace after 35 years. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and formerly served on the usher board, male chorus and mass choir. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros fan. He enjoyed fishing, buick cars and talking to people. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife, Maritha Poullard Rosamore; his children, Pauline Green, Gerald (Cheryl) Morris, Ethel (Keith) Johnson, Clarence (Marie) Rosamore, Arthur Rosamore and Bonnie Levier; 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Celina Woods-Rosamore; his twin brother, Roy Anthony Rosamore; one sister, Rosalie Rosamore-Ceasar; one son, Leroy J. Rosamore, Jr.; one grandchild and one great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Pastor David Blaney, officiating. Burial will follow in Orange Grove Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
