IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lionel Jeroid
Cooks
December 9, 1967 – November 24, 2021
Lionel Jeriod Cooks, affectionately known to many as Cookiehead, because he had a big head, entered this world, December 9th, 1967, to Betty and Lionel Cooks. He was the youngest and the only boy, spoiled by his big sisters whom he took great joy in aggravating, just for laughs. The only things he loved more than his beloved Dallas Cowboys and his gin were his four children and his precious grandgirls. In his prime, he served the great US of A, in the Air Force. He took full advantage of the light skin good hair (Al B Sure) era as he loved cruising in his freshly waxed old school Chevy Impala at the civic center on Sundays in the 90s and hanging at the park with his friends. He was so fresh and so cool, everyone loved his charisma and ability to make anyone laugh. He also threw some of the most epic house parties! When he wasn't making everyone crack up with his stories and joke telling, he was always right there with his special messages and some of the best advice. Some of his most infamous advice and sayings were, "I can show you better than I can tell you," "You bout crazy as the people in Pineville," "Same things that make you laugh make you cry," "The best way to get over a hangover is to start drinking again," by far his most inspirational advice. His perspective on any given situation is something we all strive to imitate, because no matter what, he always made you smile.
He will be sorely missed and survived by his two beautiful daughters, Shontellra Cooks and Kyliesha Cooks; two very handsome sons, that look very similar to their dad, Adrian J. Cooks and Trayvon Watson; five sisters, Pamela (Ennis) Simien, Carolyn (Percy) Jackson, Rosalyn (Floyd) Mitchell, Simona (Ronald) Clark, and Kristin (Elgia) Griffin and a host of nieces, nephews and tons of friends who loved him dearly and who he thought of as family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lionel and Betty Cooks, grandparents and Godparents.
While Lionel stayed "ready to meet his Maker", the family still isn't quite sure "The Maker' is ready to meet him. He will always be remembered as the hilarious, irreverent, and of one the most kind people we all ever knew.
