IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louis Gray,
Jr.
March 13, 1932 – November 21, 2017
Louis Gray, Jr. transitioned on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Christus St Patrick Hospital at 3:15 A.M. He was born in DeQuincy, Louisiana where he was affectionately referred to as "Junior Gray" being born to Jenny Smith Gray (Nealy} and Louis Gray Sr. At an early age, he was baptized at Evergreen Baptist Church. He attended Grand Avenue School, graduated from Southern University (B. S. elementary education), earned a Master of Education Degree at McNeese State University (supervision and administration). His first administrative job was principal at Vinton Elementary. Desiring to work locally, he taught at Carver and Moss Bluff Elementary. After which, he served as principal at Ralph Wilson Elementary from which he retired. Louis and wife, Martha, worked for the Louisiana State Department of Education as coordinator for Region five hands-on math and science LASIP initiative program.
Louis is preceded in death by both parents, brother (Clifford), and son (Karle Wayne).
Those whom he leaves to cherish great and wonderful memories are his devoted and ever-present wife, Martha, of 62 years; sons, Anthony and Donovan; brother, Claude Ellis, granddaughters whom he reared as his children: Ambra, Nina, and Whitney; God-given daughters: Lydia, Aree, Brenda, Jennifer, Jean, and most especially Pamela who traveled thousands of miles and stayed many long days, even up to this farewell day.
Additionally, there are twenty-two grandchildren among whom are Sharbreon and Alexis who also made great sacrifices to travel thousands of miles to sit at his bedside; Pamela Renada; four great grandchildren; a host of precious nieces and nephews; dear cousins, and the many true and wonderful friends whom we do not name for fear of neglect and hurt....especially the ones of whom he asked very special favors; And, "Thanks to the very exceptionally wonderful Pastor Al Williams and members of the great New Sunlight Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at New Sunlight Baptist Church, Pastor Al Williams, officiating. Burial will follow at Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
