Louis Chavis, Jr., 80, departed this life on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at a local hospital in Lake Charles, LA. He was born August 30, 1941, to Louis Chavis, Sr., and Valentine Richard Chavis in Church Point, LA. He worked at City of Lake Charles Waste Water Plant for 30 years until his retirement. He was a loving father and strong family man who never met a stranger. He loved carpentry, fishing and cooking as much as he loved his pet dog, Lady.
He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Jonathan J. Chavis of Lake Charles, LA and Kevin G. Chavis (Patricia) of Richmond, TX; two brothers, James (Ruby) Chavis and Joseph (Elmelda) Chavis, both of Lake Charles, LA; three sisters, Mary Louise Darjean of Beaumont, TX, Vernadine Chavis and Barbara Ringo both of Lake Charles, LA; five grandchildren, Jessica Chavis, Cody Chavis, Mason Chavis, Leslie Chavis and Ashley Chavis; four great grandchildren, Karter Goodson, Kamorie Goodson, Daniyah Chavis and Cody Chavis, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Valentine Chavis; his wife, Betty Jean Chavis; three sisters, Nellie Sam, Mary Guillory and Irma Cade; three brothers, Herman Chavis, Robert Lee Chavis and Clayton Joseph Chavis.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 9:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home and Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
