Madeline "Tut" Ann LaVergne Trail , 75, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in Lake Charles, LA. She was born on December 8, 1942 to the late Wilson and Mary LaVergne. She grew up in Opelousas, LA, and graduated from Plaisance High School. She later moved to Lake Charles, LA.

Madeline was married to the late John "Brother" Trail Jr. To this union seven children were born: the late Lincoln (Stacy) Trail of Dallas, TX, Paula (Bill) Peltier of Lake Charles, LA, Thomas (Cassandra) Trail of Opelousas, LA, Norman (Tujwanda) Trail of San Antonio, TX, Derrick (Crystal) Trail of Lake Charles, Dewayne Trail, of Lake Charles, and Truman (Marilyn) Trail of Houston, TX. Madeline was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church where she was an active participant in the Eucharistic Ministry. She enjoyed assisting the elderly and sick, and was dedicated to providing communion and meals on wheels to those in need. When it came to her family, she never missed a sporting event or program. She was totally dedicated in all aspects of their lives.

Madeline touched the hearts of many people with her generosity. No one was a stranger and her door was always open to the neighborhood children. She was a friend to many, and especially delighted in watching family and friends enjoy her cooking. Some of her specialty dishes included homemade boudin, colored popcorn, sweet macaroni and cheese, gumbo and homemade ice-cream. Her greatest joy was being "Granny" to her 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Madeline also loved to travel, take vacations with her family, and go on shopping trips.

Madeline will be remembered as a selfless wife and mother who always had a smile, even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength and never complained. Her memory will be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
