On January 12,1945 the world was brightened when baby boy
Malbert Joseph Lewis, Jr.,
was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Malbert Joseph Lewis, Sr. and the late Hazel Lewis at St. Patrick's Hospital. He blessed so many with his presence for 68 years, and on this past Wednesday, December 18, 2013, God dispatched an angel to move him from his earthly labor to his heavenly reward.
Malbert
graduated from
W.O. Boston High School
in 1964 and made the noble decision to join the
United State Marine Corp
that same year, and served his country honorably for six years.
Malbert
was not only committed to his country, but he was also committed to his Lord as he was faithful, dedicated and hard working member of
New Life Church in Houston, Texas
. While he was a member, he sacrificed his time to support many people by being a driver in the Transportation Ministry.
Malbert
was also someone who enjoyed his profession, and it showed in his presence as an employee the
Veteran's Administration
in Houston for 30 years until he retired in 2008. Upon his retirement, he relocated back to his hometown to spend more time with his father, family and friends.
Malbert
was someone who truly believed in living while you were alive, and he made it known by doing fun things like going fishing, taking road trips, and playing pool like only he could.
Malbert
was someone who took pride in his yard and was awarded
"Yard of the Month"
in his neighborhood on numerous occasions. It is clear that
Malbert
enjoyed his life from the beginning to the end.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Lewis and his sister Diane Lewis Redmond. He was married to Mrs. Norma Jean Vercher for 28 years.
