Obituary

Malbert J. Lewis, Sr., 93, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at 7:20 p.m. in the comfort of his own home and in his favorite chair.

He was born in Eunice, La on August 27, 1922. He is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Lewis, his daughter Diane Redmond, his son Malbert Lewis Jr., and his grandson, Joshua Redmond.

Surviving to cherish his memory are three daughters; Cathy Frank and Geralyn Lewis of Lake Charles, and Veronica Houston of Los Angeles, California. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren; Damon Lewis, Shannon Lewis, Lodric Collins, Dedric Collins, Corey Collins, Sean Redmond, Monte Redmond, Christopher Redmond, Derek Frank, Monique Frank, Danielle Frank, Malbert Lewis III, Cynthia Butler, Africa King-Griffin, Darol King Jr., and nineteen great grandchildren.

Malbert was a retiree of PPG Industries and he served our country in the army during WWII as a Buffalo Soldier. Malbert loved people and never met a stranger. Special thanks to his caregivers, Julia Savoy, Mary Smith, and Ronald Guidry.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Kings Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
