Manuel Fontenot departed this life on Monday, June 9, 2014, in his residence. He was 79 years old. He was born on June 6, 1935, in Ville Platte, LA, to the late Euzebe and Camila Fontenot. He retired after working many years at a local chemical plant. He was a jubilant, fun loving and genuine person with a heart of gold. He loved to dance, laugh and there was never a dull moment with him.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 60 years, Joanna Fontenot of Lake Charles, LA. They shared a blended family of six children. Four daughters, Shelvin Mouton and Linda Fontenot both of Lake Charles, Mary Fontenot Anderson of Leesville and Barbara Johnson of Ville Platte; one son, Bobby (Vergie) Doucet of Ville Platte; three sisters, Hilda Manuel of Beaumont, TX, Hazel Creeks and Bonnie (Lincton) Wilson both of Bayton, TX; two brothers, Lannis Fontenot of Baytown, Tx and Hayward (Lee Esther) Fontenot of Lake Charles, LA; 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Euzebe and Camila Fontenot; one son, Manuel Glenn Fontenot; one grandson, Corey Fontenot; three brothers, Hillary, Euzebe and Daniel Fontenot.
