Portrait Of a Life Well Lived

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your path." Prov 3: 5-6

Margaret "Mary" "Margie" Guillory Geyen was granted her angel wings on February 6, 2022. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and loved ones. Mary was born March 10, 1947, to the union of Curley and Loris Perkins Guillory. She was the baby girl with four other siblings. She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and attended mass there for most of her life. Mary graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1964 where she enjoyed her high school days. She was voted "Miss Sophomore", which was truly an honor. After graduating high school, she enrolled at Grambling State University with her classmate of 12 years, Claudette Geyen. There she met her husband, Rodney Geyen. She was introduced to him by her classmate. They were married her freshman year on March 6, 1965, and from this union three wonderful children were born: Rodney Gerard, Terri Lynn and Kelly Jerome.

During her lifetime, Mary was employed at a few different places where she was loved and highly respected. Some of those places included: U.S. Postal Service, Kennedy Elementary, Lakeside Bank, Sacred Heart Elementary, Eastwood Elementary and she retired from the Calcasieu Parish Public Library System. She was a hardworking and dedicated employee. Mary, along with her cousin-in-law, Dorothy Geyen, was instrumental in starting a rosary group. The Community Rosary group met once a week for years primarily in Mary's home. She was a longtime member of the Emerald Civic and Social Club, where she served as president many times.

Mary was a faithful secretary of the Ministers Spouses & Widow/Widower Department of the South Louisiana Region of the Christian Methodist Church. One of her most cherished accomplishments was being the First Lady of Williams Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

Mary was a very loving, giving and unselfish person. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially the joys of her life, her grandchildren. She was a strong financial supporter of St. Henry Catholic Church, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and Williams Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

Mary was welcomed to her heavenly home by her parents, her son Rodney Gerard, brother George Guillory, and father and mother-in-law Adam and Mildred Geyen.

She leaves her cherished memories with her husband of 56 years, Rev. Rodney Geyen; her daughter Terri Lynn Geyen; her son Kelly Jerome Geyen, both of Houston, Texas; her step-daughter Dana Mitchell of Los Angeles, California; her brothers Wilfred (Yvonne) Guillory and Joseph (Marlene) Guillory; her only sister Mary Jane Guillory, all of Lake Charles, LA; her brother-in-law Adam (Zola) Geyen; her sisters-in-law Addie M. Geyen and Cheryl (Roosevelt) Manning, all of Lake Charles, LA; brother-in-law Gerald (Twila) Geyen of Los Angeles, California, and daughter- in-law, Yolanda Geyen of Lake Charles, LA; her grandchildren: Gerica Geyen, Dr. Danielle Hodge, Dominique Hodge, Kaylon Geyen, Terrlyn Geyen, and Montrae LeBlanc: her great grandchildren: Jordan Geyen and Dylan Sarah Hodge; and her beloved Godchild, Laurence Richardson. She also had many special relationships, one with her most loving cousin and best friend, Laura Richardson, and special extended family friends, one like a daughter, Faye King; another like a son, Murphy LeBlanc. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will forever be touched by her kindness, love and beautiful smile.

A celebration of Mary's life will be on Saturday, February 12, 2022. A visitation will begin at 10am with a Rosary at 10:30, all at King's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 12:30pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
