Obituary

Marguerite Thelma Schexnayder Jones (Maw Maw), was born to the late Raphiel Schexnayder and Elizabeth Brooks Schexnayder. She attended and joined Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, at an early age, where she was baptized, under the pastor ship, of the late Reverend W. J. Moore. She confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior to join the battle to win and save souls. At the time of her death, she was a faithful member of the church, serving under the pastor ship of Reverend Robert Campbell. Marguerite was a Godly Christian woman, who loved the Lord, read her Bible daily and showed that extension of her love to all she encountered. She was a dedicated member of the church, serving in many capacities of church ministries, until her health failed. She was a member of the Combined Church Choir, Janette Mouton Circle #4, Sunday School. BTU, Assistant Mission and Vacation Bible School teacher. Attending the Calcasieu Parish Colored School, she obtained her education. Marguerite was employed at City Service, Inc., First Baptist Church of Lake Charles, and Miller's Café, for over thirty-five years of productive service. On January 20th, 1946, Marguerite was united with her soul mate, Moses Ephriam Jones, and remained a loving, dedicated wife, for fifty years, until he proceeded her in death. To this union three children were born. During the last days of her illness, Marguerite voiced to her family, that Paul and Silas came to bring her home, but she refused and told them she was not ready and they were not Jesus. However, on April 16, 2014, GOD spoke to her and said, "Come unto me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest", Matthew 11:28. Marguerite graciously accepted that offer, and now she is enjoying being her favorite saying, I'M A HAPPY CAMPER! She is preceded in death by her siblings, Raphiel Schexnayder Jr., Zerline Mathilda Schexnayder Booker, and Lynell Schexnayder. Marguerite was a proud and loving mother, leaving to cherish her memory one daughter, Fannie Carolyn Sterling of Lake Charles, La., two sons, Carlton Donnelle (Mechelle) Jones, of Oakland Ca., and Moses Clifton Jones (know as MC), of Lake Charles, La., one brother, Robert Charlie Schexnayder Sr., and a niece she reared as her own, Carol Ann Schexnayder Sweet of Lake Charles, LA, and one sister-in-law, Edmonia Schexnayder of Houston, TX., twelve grand children, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, God children, church family and friends.
