Mark William Young , 53, departed this life on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at his residence.  He was the oldest son born to Bernice Antoine Young and the late Sgt. John William Young, Jr., on August 21, 1962, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

He attended elementary schools in California, Montana and Wyoming while his father was in the military.  Returning to Lake Charles, he attended Reynaud Middle School and graduated from Washington High School in 1980.

Mark was baptized at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and was a member until joining the military after graduation. His favorite pastime was running track, racquet ball and playing ping pong. He was self-employed as a carpenter and enjoyed woodworking.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Sgt. John William Young; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Ella Goodly Antoine, Sr.; paternal grandparents, John William Young, Sr., and Helen Brown Young of Kentucky.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Bernice Antoine Young; his wife, Andrea Wickham Young of New York; two sisters, Billie Marie Gray, of Lake Charles, LA., and Tina Marie (Louis) Lee of Houston, TX; one brother, Kevin William Young of Lake Charles, LA; four sons, John Lee Young and Jorel Young of Lake Charles, LA, Emanuel Chavis Young and Kevin Shawn Young of Baton Rouge, LA; three grandchildren, Jaden Young, Eien Chavis Young and Emarri Chavis Young and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home, Pastor Elmore Garner, officiating.  Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
