Marla Spring Johnson was born on September 15, 1963, to the union of the late Ben Johnson and Jennie Mae Lee Johnson. She was a native and lifelong resident of Lake Charles, La.

Marla believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ and received him as her personal Lord and Savior.  Marla was a friendly, compassionate and extremely strong willed person with a special gift for loving children. She also enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and watching scary movies.

Marla transitioned from this life on August 20, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Cherishing her memory is daughter, Ivana Johnson, of Lake Charles, LA; mother, Jennie Mae Lee Johnson, of Lake Charles, LA; three sisters, Sandra Martin of Lynwood, California, Renza (Marlon) Harrison of Baton Rouge, LA, and Wendy (Carl) Pete of Lake Charles, LA; three brothers, Bennie (Pat) Johnson Jr. of La Puente, California; Van (Katie) Johnson of Lake Charles, LA, and Tom (Clara) King of Baton Rouge, LA. Survivors also include a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Marla was preceded in death by her father, Ben Johnson, and brother, Jerry Johnson.

The celebration of life will begin with a viewing from 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Safehaven Bible Church located at 3007 Enterprise Blvd, Lake Charles, LA. The Rev. Kedrick D. Holiday Sr. will officiate. Burial will be at Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
