Celebration of Life for Martin James Guillory
Sunrise: March 25, 1962 Sunset: April 23, 2023
Martin was the fifth of nine children born to Eta and Edward P. Guillory Sr. Martin graduated from Washington High School. He went on to continue his studies at McNeese State University for approximately two years. He was employed at Kroger at the age of fifteen and retired as a Grocery Manager in February, 2020.
Martin was a gentle giant with a boisterous laugh and sometimes a loud voice when he got excited about a topic. He loved to sit in his backyard and barbecue while enjoying God's creation (similar to his Mom, when she needed to unclutter her mind). He kept a beautiful lawn, which earned him winning "Yard of the Month". He was loved by his family and many friends. Every Easter he hosted the family barbecue. He was a Eucharistic Minister at St John Vianney Catholic Church, Houston, Texas. He loved God and attended weekly masses. In addition to reciting the rosary, Martin also influenced the lives of young children by teaching them the rosary.
He made friends wherever he went because no one was a stranger to him. He did not have any biological children, but he was a great father figure to those he helped raise.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward P. Guillory Sr. and Eta Guillory; three brothers, Edward P Guillory Jr, Alfred J Guillory, Calvin J Guillory and one sister, Lorena V Guillory.
He leaves to cherish his memory four sisters, Margaret Guillory of Houston, TX, Ella M Guillory, Sugar Land, TX, Mary Williamson of Alexandria, LA and Barbara Guillory of Houston, TX and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
