Mary D. Goodwin departed this life on January 9, 2014 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born to the late Willis and Evia Nero Goodwin Sr. on November 24, 1953 in Church Point, La. She was the 11th child of 12 children. Mary attended Riverside Elementary School, Lincoln Jr High School, Washington High School, and graduated from Marion High School, Class of 1972. She graduated from McNeese State University and retired in 2011 after working for the State of LA for 30+ years. She was the owner of Mary's Sewing and was known "Goodwin Sweet Dough Pies". She was an active member of Immaculate of Mary Catholic Church, The KPC Ladies Auxiliary Court 131, Ladies of Grace Chapter 22 and St. Joseph (Sacred Heart of Jesus). Mary leaves to mourn her daughter Antoinette Larden, four sisters, Sylvia Goodwin, Norman Goodwin, Clara Goodwin and Mildred Goodwin-Leday, three brothers, Willis and Catherine Goodwin Jr., Paul and Agnes Goodwin and James Thomas Goodwin, Sr. all of Lake Charles, La., her Godmother, Sylvia Goodwin of Lake Charles, La., Godfather, Mervin Leger of Texas City, Tx. Mary had three nieces that grew up with her, Linda Garrick-Jones, Brenda Garrick and Patricia (Trish) Goodwin-Hooker all of Lake Charles, La., and her Godchildren, David Goodwin of Houston, Tx., James Goodwin, Tiffany Anderson, Antoinette Larden, Amiyah Goodwin and Anthony Pullard, Jr. all of Lake Charles, La., and a host of other very special family members, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Evia Nero Goodwin, Sr., three brothers, Carlton, Martin and Peter Goodwin , one sister and brother in law, Anne and Anthony Larden. We the family of Mary D. Goodwin would like to thank everyone who helped take care of her, rendering prayers and support during her illness especially the staff of Christus St. Patrick Hospital, Amedysis Home Health, LCMH,local physicians and medical staff, "Just Because They Cared."
