Obituary

Mary Jane Newble, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, peacefully departed with loved ones by her side on November 19, 2023.  She was born on June 29, 1935, in Lake Charles to parents, Moses and Louise Edwards Joseph.  After attending Washington High School in Calcasieu Parish, she met her future husband, David Newble and later married in 1953.  Through their union, six beautiful children were born: Constance 'Connie', Cynthia 'Cindy', David 'Junie', Ronald, Deborah, and Louis.

Mary was a virtuous and sophisticated woman who enjoyed sewing, baking, being a caretaker, and serving others.  Mary also enjoyed working her crossword puzzles, listening to music, and reading her bible.  She truly loved being around people; Her house was always full and open to others and so was her heart.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting her daughter Connie and family especially Reese (son-in-law), going to conferences with her friend Marva Matthews for Sister Surviving Cancer Group and the Big Brother/Big Sister Group.  But most of all, she always looked forward to going on "secret shopping missions" with her sister Georgiana and best friend, Maggie Vallier!

Her faith and love for God were evident in how she cared for others.  She was a faithful and cheerful servant at Mount Olive Baptist Church devoting countless hours as their Secretary and being a part of the Women Mission Group.  She later joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Elmore Garner to be with her son David and daughter-in-law Gisele Newble.

Looking forward to their glorious reunion are her parents, daughters: Cynthia Perkins and Deborah Bell; her brother: Moses Joseph; daughter-in-law: Gisele Newble; and sons-in-law: Maurice Webb Sr and Willie Bell, and other family members.

Mary's memory will forever be cherished by her beloved family and friends.  She is survived in death by her children: Constance Webb of Hampton, VA; sons: David, Ronald, and Louis, all of Lake Charles, LA; sister: Georgia Ledet of Riverside, CA; brother: Antione Joseph (Loretta) of Lake Charles, LA; special niece LaRosa Montgomery (Gregory) of Riverside, CA; special nephews Bradford Joseph (Kaeylor) of Houston, TX, and Bryan Joseph (Karla) of Dallas, TX.  She was also blessed with 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of family, friends, church family, and many loved ones.

We will celebrate Mary's life in February/March 2024, details will be disseminated once finalized.
