Mrs. Mary Alice Sailor August died peacefully in her sleep Thursday, November 11, 2021 in her residence in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Mrs. August was born September 3, 1957 in Houston, Texas. She was the third child of Roy Samuel Sailor and Alice Trahan Sailor. She graduated from Madison High School, Houston, TX and had a ten year career with Southwestern Bell/ATT. She earned her Medical Physician Office Coding/Billing degree and later studied Elementary Education as she loved working with children. During her lifetime, Mary resided in Houston, TX, Fort Worth, TX, DeRidder, LA, Lancaster, TX and most recently in Lake Charles, LA. Besides the joy of her family, her interests included homemaking, Bible study, jigsaw puzzles, and playing games.

Mrs. August is survived by her husband David August; her children, Mary Frances McDonough (Sugar Land, TX), Cindy Alicia Hayward (Lancaster, TX) and one granddaughter, Keaton Sailor McDonough (Sugar Land, TX); her sisters, Helen Ruth Sailor Byrne (Bishop, GA), Brenda Elaine Sailor Gerstemeier (Canon City, CO); nephews, Dr. Robert Byrne (Athens, GA), Matthew Frings (Katy, TX), John "J" Byrne, (Houston, TX) and Daniel White (Houston, TX); great niece, Ellie Frings; great nephews Nicholas and Jack Byrne, Chase Byrne, and Ben Frings; and numerous extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy Samuel Sailor and Alice Trahan Sailor and one nephew, William Russell White.

Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mary Alice Sailor August will be held Saturday, November 20 at Christian World Church located at 2001 E. Gautier Road, Lake Charles, LA 70607. Visitation will be from 12-1 PM with memorial service immediately following at 1PM with Pastors Jerry and Hope Snider officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Food Pantry at Christian World Church. To do so, mail a check to Christian World at the address above, in memory of Mary August OR Venmo the donation to @Christian–World and type Mary August in the subject line.

Cremation services has been entrusted to King's Funeral Home. Interment of ashes will be at a future date.
