Mary Melissa Gary Simien

Mary Melissa Gary Simien, affectionately called Melissa, 63, departed this life on September 13, 2026, at a local hospital. She was born to Ruby Gertrude (Andrus) and Jessie Gary, Sr. in Sulphur, Louisiana. She grew up in the Mossville community.

Later in life, Melissa met the love of her life, Sidney Wayne Simien. The two became one, married, and had two sons, Sidney, Jr. and Marcus. They shared 48 years together, with 41 of them being married. Melissa was a caring and compassionate woman who brought warmth and kindness to everyone around her. Melissa worked as an attendant clerk at a local dry-cleaners for twenty-two years until she retired to take care of her beloved husband. Her hobbies and times of enjoyment were spent gardening, listening to zydeco music, fishing and sewing.

Cherishing her memories forever are her loving husband, Sidney Wayne Simien, Sr.; sons, Sidney Wayne (LaQeisha) Simien, Jr., and Marcus Lee (Shelby) Simien; brother, Jessie (Jackie) Gary, Jr., of Sulphur, Louisiana; sister, Angela Duruseau of Westlake, Louisiana; and six grandchildren, Kadyne, Kayzlin, Keiarya, Trinity, Rachel, and Melanie.

Though she is no longer with us, her love and memories will live on forever through the people she touched. She was deeply loved, truly cherished, and will be missed every day of our lives.

A Celebration of Mary's life will be held on Friday, September 25. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 10am for Visitation and Memorial Service at 11am. All services will be held in the King's Funeral Home Main Chapel.
