Melvin Dixon Sr. departed his life on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in a local nursing facility. He was born in Eunice to late Richmond and Bertha Washington-Dixon. He attended North Eunice High School. Melvin moved to Lake Charles in the late 1950's with his wife Corinne Lavergne Dixon. He worked at PPG in Westlake, LA, and retired from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office. He was a long time member of Saint Henry's Catholic Church. Survivors includes his wife Corinne Dixon of 62 years; 2 - daughters, Emily R. Goins and Nola J. (Hilman) Guillory and of Lake Charles; 2- sons, Melvin J. Dixon (Brenda), Jr. of Spring, TX and Karl J. Dixon of Lake Charles; 2- brothers, George (Beatrice) Dixon, Sr., and Shelton (Avelia) Dixon, Sr.; 16 Grandchildren; 24 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews. All of whom Melvin loved very much. He was preceded by 4 brothers, Lawrence Dixon of San Diego, Calif., Richmond Dixon and Horace Dixon, Sr. (Agnes) of Lake Charles, Calvin Dixon of Los Angeles, Calif.; 3 sisters; Kerri Dixon of Eunice, LA, Eva Mae Dixon-Allen, Bertha Mae Whitt both of Lake Charles.
