On Wednesday January 29, 2014 , Melvin Lee Savoy Jr., departed this life at the age of 44 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He was a graduate of Barbe High School and was an excellent basketball player during his High School Years.

He leaves to mourn his memory his wife; Julie Savoy, and three Step Children; Christina, Leann, and Cheyenne Gardner. His Mother, Cecilia Savoy and One Sister; Artinna Savoy (Donald) Brooks, and two nieces: Faith and Hope Savoy all of Lake Charles. Four Aunts; Catherine (Louis) Rogers, Mary Alma Balque, Mathilda (Leon) Chavis, Lucy (John) Chavis, two God Children: Jazmine Chavis and Hope Savoy, His God Parents: Mathilda Chavis & Louis Rogers, and a host of close family members and loyal friends.

He was preceded in death by his Father; Melvin Savoy Sr. Maternal grandparents, John and Annie Trail, Five Uncles; John (Brother), Anthony (UL), Patrick Lee, David and Daniel Trail all of Lake Charles, La.

Visitation will be on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at King's Funeral Home From 1:00pm - 4:00pm and with rosary at 2:00pm. Visitation will resume on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 8:00am - 10:15am at King's and the funeral will be at St. Henry Catholic Church at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
