IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melvin Doucett,
Sr.
August 5, 1941 – January 1, 2023
On August 5, 1941, God gave Melvin Doucett the "breath of life" and he became a living soul. On Sunday, January 1, 2023, he went to his eternal home. He was one of eleven (11) children to the union of Oliver and Aurelia Moss Doucett.
Melvin attended school in Louisiana and graduated from Washington High School. He relocated to Houston, TX in the late sixties where he resided until his transition to his heavenly home.
He was a devoted son, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle who always put the interest of his family first.
On October 14, 1963, he was united in marriage to Joyce May Gallien Doucett. He was a member of Christian Baptist Church.
He is survived by, yet treasuring his memory, five children, Byron Keith Doucett (Lori) of Missouri City, TX, Melvin Doucett and Waylon Doucett (Samantha) both of Houston, TX, Claude Gallien (Diana) of San Antonio, TX, Paula Jackson of Port Arthur, TX, along with seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda Brumfield of Houston, TX and Lorraine Doucett of Lake Charles, LA; one brother, Douglas Doucett of Lake Charles, LA; one sister-in-law, Bobbie Rochelle of Houston, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed by all.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Aurelia Doucett; his wife, Joyce May Gallien Doucett; grandson, Ke'Juan Doucett; brother, James Doucett and two sisters, Delores Page Doucett and Caroline Doucett.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hi-Mount Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
