On Friday, July 28, 2017, Michael P. Jones, affectionally known as "Big Mike" to family and friends, departed this life at age 67 in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Mike was born on February 11, 1950, sharing the happy occasion with his parents, the late Fred and Harriet Orphey Jones and his twin Matthew of San Diego, California.

He attended and studied through the closing of Sacred Heart Catholic High School before finishing at W.O. Boston High School where he met the love of his life, Sheila. He went on to study briefly at McNeese State University then moved to New Jersey where he received his CDL for truck driving. He was employed and retired from Saia Motor Freight. Michael was a cradle born catholic, devoted, to his church family of Sacred Heart of Jesus, where he faithfully attended Saturday afternoon mass, for most of his life.

He leaves to mourn, his devoted wife of forty years, Sheila Guillory Jones; one daughter, Atria Jones Rudan (Emile) of Toronto, Canada; one son, Jonathan 'Xavier' Jones of Lake Charles, LA; two brothers, Samuel (Mary Louise Citizen) Jones of Lake Charles, LA and Matthew Jones of San Diego, CA; one grandson, Sebastien 'Bass' Eilers of Toronto, Canada and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Harriet Orphey Jones; three sisters, Edna Hardy, Rita M. Jones and Mary Lee Jones Batiste; three brothers, Fredrick, Paul and Emmanuel Jones.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 9:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m., followed by a 12:00 Noon Mass, Rev. Father Richard Uche Adiukwu and Co–Celebrant, Deacon Errol Deville, officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Mausoleum under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
