Michael Wayne "Mike" Reed, 76, was called to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Mike was a 1963 graduate of Brookhaven High School. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves and worked for W. R. Grace for 40 years.

Mike was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles for more than 50 years.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Cullumber Reed; one daughter, Kelli Reed; one granddaughter, Kayleigh Fontenot and her husband Tanner, all of Lake Charles; one brother, Monty Reed and wife Diane of Lafayette; and many wonderful cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece, Becky Reed.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021, at University Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Dr. Johnny Dammon will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 4 p.m. until service time. At his request, Mike's body was donated to medical research.

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given to Mike to the doctors and staff at Harbor Hospice, CalCam Hospital, and Complete Palliative Care in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
