Obituary

Michael DeWayne Richard, known as “Weezy” departed this life on Tuesday, the 28th day of July in the year 2026, at the age of 42 in Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles. He was born on September 22, 1983, to Barbara Richard and Michael McNeal in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

He attended Lake Charles Boston High School, earning his GED. He was a terrific football player and could have even been drafted to the NFL. He was that good! Before becoming disabled, Weezy worked as a laborer in several local refineries. His hobbies included dancing, joking, and rapping. He always took the time to talk to younger people, sharing his life’s story, and encouraging them not to follow in his footsteps, but be better than he could ever be.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents Ceola and Conrad Richard, Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Narral and Berry McNeal of Navasota, Texas.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his parents, mother Barbara Richard, father, Michael McNeal, stepdad, Johnny Brown, and bonus dad, Alvin Davis; his godmother and aunt, Brenda Richard; his children, Michael Withers, Leon Richard, Dion Withers, and Zion Withers; his brothers, Cedric Richard, Sr., Christopher Smith, Patrick Smith, Micheal Smith, and James Smith; and sisters, Lakesha Willis (Eric), Latonya Richard, Mykiesha McNeal, Jessica McNeal, and Mykedia McNeal. He also leaves his special nephews and nieces, Brian Paul, Jr., Cedric Richard, Jr., Nathaniel Anderson, Jr., Christian Buckmire, Terrell Bradley, Jr., Brianna Paul, Chloe Buckmire, Kayleigh Richard, Kelsea Richard, and Nova Parada.

Visitation with family and friends will be on Saturday, August 8, 2026, beginning at 9am, followed by funeral services at 11am. Both services will be held in the King’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King’s Funeral Home.
