On the 18th day of August, 2026, Mitchell Frank departed this life at the age of 72 years old in his home of Mamou, Louisiana. He was born on March 22, 1954, as the fifth child of Joseph and Dorlica Harrison Frank. As a native of Mamou, he was known to most people as Mitch or "Chee-Nue".
After graduation, Mitch enlisted and entered into the United States Army, where he was Honorably Discharged. Trained as an Automotive Mechanic and Paint and Body Technician, he was known as one of the best automotive painters and body repairman, in his prime. He later worked at Savoy Medical Center in Maintenance, and also with his uncle as a carpenter, building and remodeling several homes in the Evangeline and Southwest Louisiana areas.
Mitchell was normally quiet and reserved. However, this did not stop him from enjoying life, spending quality time with family and friends, cooking a sauce piquant, or just hanging out. Other times, he was fine being alone in his home listening to blues music and partaking his favorite beverage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorlica Frank; his son, Mitchell James Frank; siblings, Eligha "Jay" Guillory, Sr., Albert Butch Frank, Nathan Bud Frank, and Ronald Tennis Frank.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Natasha M. Phipps of Houston, Texas, Ricky James Malbrew of Chatagnier, Louisiana, and Chantell Citizen of Houston, Texas. Also surviving him are his sisters Jeanella Goodly of Church Point, Louisiana; Linda F. Griffith, Lori Frank, and Tina Frank, all of Mamou, Louisiana; his brothers, Clyde (Barbara) Frank of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Conray Frank of Mamou.
He will also be missed by his grandchildren, John Keith Phipps II, Garbriel Jermaine Citizen, Elizabeth Blythe Phipps, Zachary James Phipps, and Ethan Anthony Citizen.
Following Mitch's wishes, he will be cremated. A Committal Service and Military Honors will be held at the SWLA Veterans Cemetery in Jennings, Louisiana on Monday, August 31, under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
