Mittie Ann Jones was born May 16, 1929 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the late Calvin and Josephine Robinson Day, Sr.

With only an Eighth Grade education, Mittie Ann learned to read and write fluently. She was an avid reader with excellent penmanship. With her pleasant disposition her dream was to one day become a nurse.

She lived most of her life in Lake Charles, but in the early 40's, Mittie moved to Chicago, Illinois and married James Neal. To this union two daughters were born, Helen Harper and Josephine Morris. She moved back to Lake Charles in the early 50's with her two daughters and to support them she worked as a maid for the Payne family until her retirement. She later married Lester Jones and helped to raise their three grandchildren, Scott Harper, Tweetie Adames, and Tommy Lyn Robinson. After the death of her second husband she lived a quiet life helping support her two daughters and grandchildren, until she became disabled. A native of Lake Charles, she was a lifelong Bible Student.

She departed this life Tuesday, May 27, 2003 in a local hospital.

She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Helen Harper of Lake Charles; one sister, Margaret Stevens of Lake Charles; two brothers, Calvin Day, Jr. and Floyd Jones both of Lake Charles; five grandchildren, Mittie Faith Adames A. Scott Harper, Tommie Lynn Robinson, Chan¬dler Drew Morris and Zina Hall; six great grandchildren, Victor Blake Tyler, Brandon Foreman, Jessie L. Robinson HI, Gabriel J. Robinson, Adam Chandler Morris, Aron C. Morris; five step great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Josephine Francis Morris and three sisters, Lelia Mae Prudhomme, Rosa Lee Dumas, and Jessie Mae Fields.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2003, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral sevice at 11:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
