Monica Marie
Harmon
November 27, 1950 – April 30, 2026
Monica Marie Gardner Harmon, 75, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, surrounded by family but most importantly love. She was born on November 27, 1950, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Thomas Gardner and Hazel Ewing. From a young age, she displayed a vibrant spirit, a kind heart, and a natural ability to bring joy to those around her. She attended W. O. Boston High School.
Monica lived a life defined by strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family. She was a woman whose presence brought comfort to those around her and whose kindness left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Monica was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend always putting others before herself and offering guidance, wisdom, and love through every stage of life. She had a warm spirit, a resilient heart, and a way of making people feel seen and valued.
Monica was a woman of many passions. She found joy in cooking, sewing, interior decorating and her beloved New Orleans Saints. She was always eager to share her talents with those around her. She kept it real but kept it sweet. Whether she was cooking for someone, altering someone's clothing, or setting up for some event she embraced every experience with enthusiasm and love.
More than anything, Monica was devoted to her family. She cherished her relationships and was a source of strength, love, and compassion to those who needed her. Her love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren knew no bounds, and she took great pride in being a loyal grandmother. She is survived by her brother Tiger Gardner (Sarah); her children: Marvin J. Harmon Jr., Marva M. Harmon Pete (Spencer), Marlon J. Harmon, and Martin P. Harmon (Erica); her precious grandkids: Ricky, Braylon, Christian, Renieka, Martin, Jasmine, Roland, Tayler, Sade, Anique, Marshelle, and Markenzy; and a host of great grandkids, loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Gardner and Hazel Ewing, brother Fred Ewing, daughter Edwina Harmon, and granddaughter Jasmine Harmon, whom we take comfort in knowing, welcomed her with open arms.
Though the pain of her loss is overwhelming, we find solace in the memories she left behind. Her spirit will live on in every shared story, every echo of laughter, and every act of love inspired by her example. We will forever carry her in our hearts.
A celebration of Monica’s life will be held on Saturday, May 9, with a visitation of family and friends at 9am. A funeral service will follow at 11am in King’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial and dismissal will take place at Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King’s Funeral Home.
