Myrtle A. Benedit, 74 died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. She was born and raised in Lake Charles, the daughter of the late Fannie and Edward Syas II. She was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She was preceded in death by her husband Andres Benedit and siblings; Agnes Jackson, Leroy J. Syas and Edward Syas III. She is survived by her siblings, Mary Evelyn Haradaway of Houston X and Reginald Syas of Lake Charles, her children; Ray Sya and Phoebe D. Syas of Lake Charles, Reginald Syas and Jaunatta Syas of Atlanta, GA, Amara Asad of Hattiesburg, MS, Kevin Syas of Murfreesboro, TN and Wayne Syas of London, England. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. Services will be at 10:00AM Friday, January 30, 2015 at King's Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00AM to 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Repast immediately following at Knights of Peter Claver Hall.
