On Saturday the 15th day of February 2025, Ophelia Thomas Collins departed this life at the age of 75 years old, in a local care facility. She was born on December 18, 1949, to Renis Thomas and Ezolia Malbrough Thomas. During her years of employment, she worked as a housekeeper. Her hobbies included sitting down and enjoying a cup of coffee and a cigarette while talking with family and friends. She also enjoyed watching western movies and the gospel station, loved spending time with family and friends and dancing at family functions.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Jennifer Chapman of Yorktown, VA, Alvin, Johnny, and Corey Robert all of Lake Charles, LA, Chamica (Calvin) Williams of Lake Charles, LA; her siblings, Margie Thomas and Alverta (Leroy) Savoy of Eunice, LA, Audrey Battle of Denton, TX, Brenda Thomas and Mildred Goodley both of Lake Charles, LA and Drucella Thomas of Opelousas, LA; 20 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Renis and Ezolia Thomas; her husband, Leslie Collins; three brothers,  Joseph Thomas, Harry Thomas and Hillary Thomas; one sister, Loretha Cullivan; one daughter, Annie Moore; one grandson, Merdic Williams and two great grandsons, Joshua Moore and Johnathon Ramos.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Freeman Church of God In Christ, Elder Darnold Troy Catlon, officiating.
