IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Orelia Marie
Duhon Tousand
November 17, 1951 – October 11, 2020
Orelia Marie Duhon Tousand , 68, was granted life in this world on November 17, 1951, to the late Mary Duhon and Lawrence Duhon. What a blessing she would become to so many people and to this world. Orelia would live on to devote her life to the pursuit of happiness and love through God. She grew up in a large family with 12 other siblings under the roof of both parents. She was a good student graduating from Lincoln High School in Port Authur, TX as a Lincoln Bumble Bee.
At the age of 19, she became ill with epilepsy and had a healthy baby boy, Parris, and a year later had another healthy baby boy, Reginald. She had great courage, strength, and devotion in raising her two boys on her own with the protection that only a mother could display. She discovered that by finding God and building under him a strong faith foundation that she shared with her children, she could endure anything this world threw her way. She got married and eight years later had a third son, Brandon.
Although she had an illness no one really understood, that did not stop her from pursuing her dreams. She now knows that if not for God guiding her path, she would not have lived past 30 as the doctors told her. She lived a great, full and rich life raising three boys that she saw turn into mature men, with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Orelia and everyone that knew her through the power of God and Faith, she stopped having seizures at the age of 58. How amazing is God.
Orelia prayed daily like it was her job and not just for herself but for everyone she knew and for the children of the world. She donated to many Christian charities and helped support two little girls in a destitute country. Her heart was always ready to love and help even if it was never returned. We know not the hour or time of season, for only Gods knows and ask him not the reason, for he is God. On October 11, 2020, she returned to God and now finds true comfort joy, and peace with true understanding.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020, at 12:00 noon and funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
