IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Ann
Sanders
March 6, 1949 – May 12, 2025
Patricia Carthon Sanders , 76, a beloved figure in the Oberlin community, peacefully departed this life on May 12, 2025, after a life richly lived in service and kindness. Known for her lifelong missionary work, Patricia was a beacon of light and hope, touching lives through her gift of music.
Patricia was the third child born to Harmon and Roberta "Laura" Carthon. Shortly after her birth on March 6, 1949, the family relocated to Oberlin, Louisiana. Patricia was the proud mother of four children: Gerald, Shannon, Chasity, and Mayosha; grandmother to five—Aaliyah, DJ, Hailey, Kydin, and Maddisyn; and great-grandmother to one, Ali.
Patricia was filled with the spirit of Christ from an early age, singing her first solo in church at just six years old. Her life was a true reflection of Christ's love. She was an ordained COGIC missionary for over 40 years. From church secretary to Sunday school teacher, she did it all. She delivered meals to the elderly, the sick, and the shut-in, showing love through her cooking and baking. She and her sisters also ministered in prisons for over 20 years. She even led a month-long revival in Germany.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 46 years, Rev. Henry Sanders; three daughters: Shannon (Glen) Bias of Eunice, LA; Chasity (Barry) Hayes of Oakdale, LA; and Mayosha (Fredrick) Thomas of Basile, LA; one sister, Felicia (Jerry) Sandifer of Eunice, LA; her five grandchildren: Aaliyah (Alexander) Evins, Darrell "DJ" Reed Jr., Hailey Guillory, Kydin Thomas, and Maddisyn Thomas; one great-grandchild, Ali Evins; three godchildren: Forest Stewart, LaToya Carrier, and Retina Jackson; and one God-sent great-grandchild, Emerson Roy Landry. She will be deeply missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her son, Gerald Cole; her parents, Harmon and Roberta Carthon; and four siblings: Ezola Williams, Harmon Carthon Jr., Lula Mae Smith, and Elouise Broussard.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Progressive Church Of God In Christ, Oberlin, LA. Burial will follow in Botley Cemetery in Kinder, LA, under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
