Paul C Rivers, 71, departed this life on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, LA. He was born June 7, 1950, to Carlton Rivers, Jr., and Albemie Hayes Rivers in Dallas, TX. He worked at the United States Post Office in Dallas, TX, until his retirement. He served in the United States Army with an honorable discharge. During the course of his service, he received a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was very politically active in the South Dallas Community and very instrumental in getting the JB Jackson Transit Center. He enjoyed music, dancing, cooking and talking to any and everybody who would listen.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 41 years, Gena Lyne Rivers; three children, Paul C Rivers, Jr., of Midway Park, NC, Roland M. Rivers of Moss Bluff, LA and Shila' T. Rivers of Lake Charles, LA; his siblings, Carlton Rivers, III (Lonnie), Kenneth R. Rivers (Joyce), JoAnn Jernigan all of Dallas TX and Donna Morrison of Steel Creek, SC; two grandchildren, Aliyah E. Rivers and King B. Fisher and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton Rivers, Jr., and Albemie Rivers; maternal grandparents, Clarence and Plattie Hayes; paternal grandparents, Carlton, Rivers, Sr., and Rachel Rivers.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at King's Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
