Paul Henry Woods, Sr., 68, departed this life on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at his residence in Jennings, La.  He was born on April 12, 1947, in Elton, La., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ignation Woods, Sr. Paul was baptized at an early age at the Golden Chain Baptist Church in Elton, La.  He attended Katie B. Thomas High School and continued his education at Jeff Davis Vo-Tech School in Jennings, La., for welding.  He served three years in the United States Army receiving National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal W/2 Bronze Service Stars, and Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device.  He was a pipefitter for the Ziggler/Leevac Shipyard for forty plus years in Mermentau, La.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Verna Mae Woods of Jennings, La.  To this union, he leaves to cherish four children, Paul Woods, Jr., of Monroe, La., Meyosha Woods of Baton Rouge, La., Courtney Woods of Jennings, La., and Ebony Woods of Rayne, La; five grandsons and one great-grandchild; three sisters, Celia Allison, Cindy (Roy) Miles and Charlotte (Darrel) Bias; three brothers, Charles Woods, Sr., Matthew Woods, and Warren (Andrea) Woods and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Betty Woods and Evelina Langham; and two brothers, Ignation Woods, Jr., and Lee Woods.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 9:00 a.m., at Union Baptist Church in Jennings, La; funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Gerald Perkins, officiating. Burial will be in Eternal Rest Cemetery in Elton, La., under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
