Celebration of Life for "Mom" Pauline Durousseau Fontenot Dearly Beloved Family and Friends, I wanted to let you know I've moved. I received a call from my Savior on November 18, 2012, who informed me that my mansion was ready and that I was to move in immediately. I've been storing up my treasures for over one-hundred years now and after a few final touches by Jesus Christ the Chief Carpenter I am going home. I was born in Mallet, Louisiana on February 3, 1912 to proud parents Eva and John Durousseau. I moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana to raise my nine children Dorithea Iris, Gertrude Doke, Andrew Carrier, Hilary Carrier, Margaret Hanchett, Floyd Carrier, Jeanette Williams, Ernest Carrier, Joseph Carrier, Jr., and three grandchildren David, Jonathan and Beverly Carrier. Well, my new home is finished and my neighbors are loved ones who have gone home before me, my dear Mother and Father; sisters Lucy Durousseau, Alicia Durousseau Rene', Lilly Durousseau LeDee, Elise Durousseau, Malone Durousseau Guillory, brother Dorcen Durousseau; my daughters Gertrude Doke, Jeannette Williams and grandsons Wayne and Greg Doke. My new home is located inside the pearly gates, secure behind the walls of jasper and is built upon twelve foundations of precious stones just off the celestial shores. The streets are paved with gold as pure as transparent glass. There is peace, joy and happiness here, with no more pain, fear, strife or sorrow. I have to go now to be fitted for my wings before the celebration. You are invited to join me and my surviving family, Dorithea Iris, Andrew Carrier, Hilary and Cathrine Carrier, Margaret Hanchett, Floyd and Darlene Carrier, Ernest and Thelma Carrier, Joseph and Gaynell Carrier, Jr.; thirty-five grandchildren, sixty-four great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and treasured friends, at my Celebration of Life on Saturday November 24, 2012. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the celebration beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Tabernacle of Praise, 307 Deshotel Lane, Lake Charles, Louisiana, and my internment at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Opelousas Street under the direction of King's Funeral Home. Remember always, "Mom is love."
