Pearl “Miss Pearl” Cole
June 22, 1947 - September 10, 2026
Pearl B. Cole, age 79 of Lake Charles, LA, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2026. She was born on June 22, 1947, in Kinder, Louisiana, to Issac and Nellie Cole. She was affectionately known in the community as Miss Pearl.
Pearl was the oldest of five, Issac Cole Jr., Margaret Skinner, Eddie Cole, and Burkman Cole. Her parents later adopted five kids: Gail Jones, Ronald Jones, Jerrie Jones, Burkman Cole Jr., and Nicole Cole.
The start of Pearl’s journey in the workplace began at Immaculate Heart of Mary School. From there, she worked at the Diocese of Lake Charles and later found her place to serve as the executive director of Abraham’s Tent. There she spent thirty-six years and received numerous awards, but she found the most satisfaction from the smiles of people receiving a meal.
Pearl will be remembered for her service to the community of Southwest Louisiana. She leaves to mourn, her children, Anthony (Laneisha) Cole Sr. and Michael (Alexis) Cole; brother, Eddie (Aline) Cole; grandchildren, Anthony Cole Jr., Chelsea Cole, and Nehemiah Cole; one special niece that she helped raise, Chrishanda Tomeika Cole; and godchildren, Tamara Mitchell and Patsy Wykoff. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends from the community of Southwest Louisiana. Miss Cole will be terribly missed.
Special thanks to Joseph Broussard, Bridget Bennett, Belinda and Chris Avery, and Tommy and Anita Senegal for your love, support, and always being there.
A celebration of Pearl's life will be on Saturday, September 19, beginning at 9am at King's Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30am and Mayoral Proclamation and Reflections at 10am. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church followed by interment at St. John Cemetery in Kinder, Louisiana under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
A message from Miss Pearl;
‘I have strived to serve the people in need within our community, and I am truly grateful and happy to have had this opportunity. It has been a blessing to not only serve the people, but also to be a part of God’s work here in our community. I thank God for allowing me to be a blessing to others and for giving me the opportunity to make a difference.’
Thank You,
Pearl
