Pshaun Rene Long was born on September 30, 1950 to the union of Lorraine Robinson Long and Andrew John Long. She was christened, as an infant, by the Late Rev. J. C. Stripling at Sloan Memorial United Methodist Church, now Legacy United Methodist Church, where she was nurtured, grew spiritually, served graciously and remained a dedicated servant throughout her entire life.

Pshaun’s roots in Methodism ran deep! Her grandfather, William Singleton Robinson, served as a Methodist pastor in the Louisiana Circuit. Her Grandmother –Eunice Rogers Robinson Fowler, Mother–Lorraine Robinson Long, Aunt–Madria Robinson, and Godmother–Essie Mae Harden, were all dedicated servants in the vineyards of Sloan Memorial UMC. They laid the foundation and established the legacy for Pshaun’s servant-ministry, as she graciously gave of her time, talents and treasures in support of the ministries and outreach of Sloan Memorial UMC.

Pshaun’s educational journey began in 1951 at Charles Atherton Elementary School, continued on to E. O. Smith Junior High School and culminated at her beloved Alma Mater, Phillis Wheatley Senior High School, graduating with the “Class of 1968”.

Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas provided the undergraduate collegiate studies that continued on to the post-graduate level at Texas Southern University. Her degrees in Business and Education prepared her for rewarding professional careers as an employee in the Finance Department of Shell Oil Company, as a Career and Technology Instructor at Francis Scott Key Middle School and as a Tax Professional with H & R Block Tax Services.

Aside from her professional careers, Pshaun treasured her Sisterhood of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., having pledged via the Graduate Chapter of the Houston Metropolitan Alumni Branch.

Pshaun leaves this earthly life, to be missed by her sister, Hattie Pope (Joseph) of Modesto, California; one niece and nephew, great-nieces/great-nephews, one great-great niece/great-great nephews and a myriad of paternal and maternal cousins. Additional survivors include her God-children, whose lives she was privileged to be a part of, namely: Kary Jackson, II, Katelyn Waller and Aria N. Johnson, along with two very special cousins - Jacquelyn R. Cooper and Juliette R. Senegal, who provided dutiful care and assistance during the aggressive stages of her illness.

Pshaun's life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 25, at Metropolitan CME Church at 8955 South Freeway (Hwy 288), Houston, Texas. Visitation shall begin at 9am and funeral services at 11am in the church's sanctuary. Christian burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery - North at 10401 W. Montgomery under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
