Obituary

Rev. Raymond Landry , 77, departed this life on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at a local hospital in Lake Charles, LA. He was born March 23, 1940, to Joseph Landry and Hazel Poullard Landry in Basile, LA. He attended Washington High School and later completed his theological studies at McNeese State University. On August 31, 1987, he was called to ministry to preach the gospel. He was the pastor of True Light Baptist Church for 25 years when he retired as Pastor Emeritus. He was employed with PPG Industries for 29 ½ years until his retirement. He loved playing the piano, playing dominoes, and watching football where he was a big Dallas Cowboy fan. He enjoyed carpenter work and visiting with family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Velma Currie Landry; his children, Marzetta Landry Guillory (Rico), Keithen Ray Landry, Raymond Dewayne Landry, Dr. Carlos Ross (Shante) and Rev. Terry Landry-Love (Mary); one brother, Leo Paul Landry, Sr., 28 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hazel Landry; one brother, Walton Landry; two sisters, Shirley Landry Cammon and Pearl Landry St. Romain and one granddaughter, Raylia D'Asia Landry.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., and funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at Greater St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Abbie Monroe, officiating. Burial will follow in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of King's Funeral Home.
